Services

Increasing the sales of electricity is vital to maintaining stable electric rates for the members of McLean Electric Cooperative, Inc. The sale of electricity, however, must be accomplished through efficient and effective means. McLean Electric uses incentives such as electric water heater rebates to help the customer purchase electric space heating and water heating equipment.

Loan Program: Contact our office for the current available money saving program. ERC and weatherization loans: McLean Electric Cooperative currently will loan funds at 5% for installing better windows, doors, insulation and other energy conserving measures. Please contact the office for current programs.

McLean Electric is currently in the process of reorganizing our electric heat program.  There will be only an electric heat rate-a dual fuel rate will no longer be available.  The board of directors is currently setting a rate for this program.

Electric Heat

*Note: All installations will be inspected by co-op personnel. Any corrections needed will be made at the customer's expense. Entire service panels are not allowed to be CT'ed - only individual heat circuits.

  • Only 240 V electrical heating circuits will be sub metered and will not be controlled by the Cooperative.
  • To qualify for the electric heat rate, you need to purchase a sub-meter socket and CT from the co-op. The cost of those items is $78.23 plus tax.
  • All electric heat energy on the sub meter will qualify for the heating rate of 4.2¢ per/KWH, a $3 per month per sub meter fee, and installation of sub meter is the member’s responsibility. This is a non-controllable heat rate, which means the co-op will not turn off the electric heat at any time.
  • Up to $5,000 loan for five years at 3% interest for all conversions to electric heat.
  • One time rebate up to $350 is available for homes. Electric heat must be 240 V and an inspection will be required if a sub meter is installed. If heating equipment is not bought from MEC Services, our subsidiary, we will require a receipt before rebate is issued.   Rebates for sub metered accounts will also be issued after an inspection is complete.  Rebate cannot exceed cost of item.
  • One time rebate up to $150, with receipt, for shops/or garages. Rebate cannot exceed cost of item.
  • Electric Use Assistance: Contact the office for information and help for your electrical needs.
